Visit from New Zealand

During the first week of September, following the EAAE congress in Bonn, Darran Austin (New Zealand Ministry of Primary Industries) visited the German side of the AgriDENZ team at the Thünen institute in Braunschweig. During his visit, Darran had time for both progressing the work in the work package on farm-level GHG accounting, meeting with the German side of the AgriDENZ team to discuss future AgriDENZ output, as well as learning more about the work at Thünen.

As the two topic-leads for the work package Farm-level GHG accounting, Darran Austin and Dr Elin Martinsson (Thünen Institute, Germany) benefitted from meeting and discussing the next steps in their work including Elin Martinsson’s upcoming visit to New Zealand.

Finally, Darran Austin had the opportunity to meet with representatives from Thünen and to get a guided tour in the laboratory for climate smart agriculture, enabling interesting discussions about differences and similarities between the work conducted at Thünen and agricultural research and policymaking in New Zealand.
